The guitar was listed last month on Kruse GWS Auctions’ Artifacts of Hollywood & Music auction with a starting bid of $250,000. Presley famously played the Cherry Red semi Hagstrom V-2 Guitar from the '68 Comeback Special Hagstrom V-2, cherry red, six steel string acoustic/electric guitar having bearing the serial number 732240. The guitar features mother of pearl inlay on frets, four black bass and trebble knobs, white pick-up selector switch, dual pick up, trapeze bar, dual F holes and upward slanting pickguard.
